CT Scan
- CT stands for “Computed Tomography” while CAT stands for “Computed Axial Tomography.” A CT scan and a CAT scan refers to the same type of scan.
- CT scanning offers detailed views of many types of tissue including the lungs, bones, soft tissues and blood vessels.
- Diagnosis made with the assistance of CT can eliminate the need for invasive exploratory surgery and surgical biopsy.
- CT scans provide highly detailed images with superior quality when compared to conventional x-rays. CT scans, however, uses about 30% more radiation than conventional x-rays.
- 16-slice CT scanners allow for faster exam times and thinner, more detailed cross-sectional slices to be acquired.
